My husband and I will be relocating from Savannah to Atlanta in June/July and are starting the daunting process of finding a home to rent.

Asked by cassandralynn425, Atlanta, GA Sun Jan 6, 2013

We are late 20s/early 30s with no children, looking to live in the perimeter in a safe area. Overwhelmed with trying to figure everything out as we don't know anyone in Atlanta and have only visited twice so am looking for assistance to try to narrow areas down some. Looking for a pet-friendly home preferrably with fenced in backyard with at least 3 bedrooms/2 baths, large kitchen, and storage room. Would love any assistance or recommendations that anyone can give. Thanks so much!

The rental market for single family homes inside the perimeter is very competitive, so you should contact a Realtor who specializes in the area you want to live. They will learn your needs, and prepare you to move quickly when they find the right home for you. Trulia is a great place to find that Realtor!

I was born in Savannah and I have lived in Intown Atlanta since 1998. I lived in Inman Park, Kirkwood and now Decatur.

Where exactly will you be employed?

Safe is a very relative term that only you can define.

What is your budget per month?

I have a sweet little 2/2 for lease in Piedmont Heights near Ansley Mall - $2000, Morningside ESD. Killer kitchen and entertaining space. Listing today. Is that sounding like what you are looking for?

$3000/month and up gets you into bigger houses on nice streets. Under $2000 - what is your definition of "inside the perimeter?"

Because for about $1500-1700, you can get exactly what you want south of Buckhead, west of Midtown, across northern Atlanta, and Decatur, near Brookhaven and Chamblee, and certainly all over east Atlanta and southern Decatur.

Depending on where you are employed, you will want to limit your choices by the 30-60 minute or more commute times that you might encounter.

With these kind of pet friendly rentals, you just have to be able to beat your competitors to the good ones. Because the rest are usually pretty "lived in."

Good luck.

The key to finding the right location of a property here is based mainly on what your commute(s) will be. Please call, text or email if we can provide further assistance. Good Luck!
