My husband and I have "OK" credit - not great, yet not terrible. We have good combined household income - We want a no-fee 1 bedroom under $2,500!

Asked by Beatrice Gomberg, New York, NY Tue Sep 24, 2013

Getting a great apartment was so easy when we lived in San Francisco & West Hollywood - we thought it was going to be the same moving here. When we applied to numerous apartments in June though, we were rejected numerous times, or given completely unrealistic ultimatums (pay off all your student loans this month or you can't live here !?) We are looking for a 1 bedroom with updated renovation in a safe neighborhood in Brooklyn. We are interested in Clinton Hill, Williamsburg or Greenpoint - although we are open if it is nice, safe & close to transportation. Help!

Good Afternoon Beatrice

You may want to opt for private owners & not management companies. Sometime they are open to considering "Ok" credit. It may be a great idea to research additional neighborhoods, if a brokers fee is ever in your budget. I would love to help out.
