Cindimainer, If you are moving oct 1st, then units available in june will not be available in october. You will have to lease these units now. The market is a bit more responsive within 30 -45 days of availability.

Try looking in August or the beginning of September. The slowest month is September, this is when the service industry returns to the area and starts to look for housing for the season that begins in October.

The rental market is very fast and you will have to look and be ready to act quickly. If you are looking to rent a place in June check with apartment complexes which have a roster of units that will be available that far in advance.

Good luck

The time to start looking is August 15, I will sugest to get involved with an agent, with so many foreclosures it will be safer to work with an agent. Go to my website http://www.octaviac.listingbook.com and register and go to rental search. Good Luck

My son can actually move in between July 15 and August as he is moving there from Pensacola, but if he finds his own place before October, we will be paying for our place here in MO and a new one there! ...rock and a hard place....

This is kind of a hit or miss. If you look too soon and find the right place, you'll have to just wait it out. If you start looking too late and can't find anything you like, you are out of luck. I would recommend looking into the neighborhoods and learning where you would/would not like to live and at least narrow that down soon. Then, maybe mid-August, see how many rentals there are in the area. If there are quite a few, you might want to wait until beginning of September, if not, you would want to start in August. But I probably wouldn't start any earlier than that.
