Alex,

Great question! Please review the blog below for information on most GA Down Payment Assistance Programs. FYI, credit and income eligible persons working in the field of education may qualify for $7,500 to help them pay both their down payment and closing costs on properties priced up to $250K. You'll find the income limits at the flier to the left of the screen under State of Georgia Down Payment Assistance.

Looks like you're in Douglasville GA, so you might also be interested in the a new home community there that is offering NSP down payment assistance funds of 20% the purchase price up to $25,000 with higher income limits and no first time home buyer requirement!

Please feel free to call with questions at (678) 775-2677.

Great news! There is help for you as a teacher who wants to purchase your first home! Several others have mentioned programs. I agree that Ga. Dream is probably a great option for you. If you'd like to find out more about the program, please contact me at the email or phone numbers listed below and I can send you links and more information. There are some great properties available in the Douglasville area; however there are also some properties that were damaged by last year's floods so it's important to hire a professional real estate agent to guide you through the process. Good luck!

Yes there are, Alex. One in particular, the HUD Good Neighbor Next Door (GNND) program, helps accredited pre-K through 12th grade teachers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians become homeowners. There are also other incentives available through the county and state for which you may be eligible as well as a federal program from USDA. Please see the link below and call or email if you need more information or would like to preview some homes. Good Luck!
