Linda: Good question! High end luxury homes have now crossed the nine-figure barrier. Del Mar, Ca has a $50 million beach home set to close, but that's peanuts compared to what else is available--and selling. The ultra-luxury homes keep upping the bid. See the link below:

No question that California has some of the most expensive real estate in the United States.. In Manhattan Beach CA we are seeing prices on teardowns on The Strand at well over $9,000,000. Malibu and Bel Air have some big prices on premium properties, New York and Boston are also some very hot real estate markets.

Roberta, would the owner of that $50 million home consider a seller-carry?

Brian: At closing, we'll discover the source of financing...if any. This may very well be a cash transaction:-)

There's a home now for sale and listed on SOCAL MLS at Corona del Mar, South OC, CA, with asking price of $75,000,000. Beautiful home.

Del Mar, La Jolla, Bel Air, Malibu, Carmel, Monterey in California. Of coarse Manhattan, NY for city folks. Palm Beach....Believe it or not my home town of Vero Beach, Florida has several Estate homes (number #1 spot for CEO's and High net worth executives to own a home) in the 20-40 Million dollar range. Aspen Colorado is another big players haven.

The 50-M deal was a split transaction between Jacobson and T-Boone Pickens (the largest Oil and Gas Hedge fund in the world- It was a small cash transaction for them for a small beach bungalow......yikes

A Del Mar, CA property closed at the end of May for $48 million+ (beach front, 10,000 SF house including some outbuildings). There was a condo in Manhattan that recently sold for $100 million, and there are a handful of homes priced well over $100 million currently on the market (Montana, Palm Beach, Bel-Air). Rancho Santa Fe, in Southern California, was ranked the 2nd most expensive zip cde in 2006 by Forbes - Sagaponak, NY was # 1.
