Is it still possible for a couple to qualify for a mortgage after clearing up credit issues?

Asked by Yvette, Saint Louis, MO Sun Jan 27, 2008

My fiance and I back in the fall tried to pre-qualify for a home loan. The bank told my fiance he needs to make more money but he is planning to relocate here to GA in June. Both of our incomes combined is more than enough to be able to afford a mortgage. I make more income than my fiance and was told that I had to clear up some credit issues before applying again. I have done most of all this work I was told to to clear my credit, etc. But I have yet to see any changes to my credit score to even make a effort to apply again. Can we still qualify together for a home loan?
