Can I refinance my home loan if I had a short sale done on an investment property less than 2 years ago?

Asked by Reggie Dela Rosa, 89148 Sun May 18, 2014

Hi, my wife and I had a BK discharged 4 years ago. An investment property was included in the BK, but apparently our names were still on the property as owners. That property was sold back to the bank in March 2013. We were told that we had to wait at least 2 years before we could refi our primary home because of this. Is this true?

Hi Reggie,

Kyle is right, there are a lot of different factors in play, depending on your current financial circumstances, that would affect your ability to do a refinance on your home.

The lender we work with has an exclusive "Fresh Start" program that allows buyers to purchase property one day out of foreclosure or short sale depending on their FICO score, income and down payment. (No other lender in town has this program.) They may also have something for a refinance of an existing home, but I would need to get you connected with them to find out.

Go to: http://www.greatlasvegashomes.com/preferred-mortgage-lender.php

You can fill out the short online application form and describe your circumstances, and they can have someone contact you.

Hope this helps!
