Deeds do not necessarily mean anything, for many different reasons. Do you think your grandmother and mother actually owned the land at the time of their deaths? If so, do you know whether the property was encumbered by any debt? If they owned the land and it was not over-encumbered with debt than you probably need to contact an attorney to start a probate for your mother (or maybe even one for the grandmother. It might also be a good idea to contact an attorney earlier to help you answer those ownership questions. If those deeds have tax id numbers it might help you research who owns the land now (or at least who the county thinks owns the land).

Keep in mind there are many reasons the property might not be in your family. A sale subsequent to those deeds would be the most likely reason.

This is a legal question which would probably require review of documents specific to the complex, but note that in most of these I think only one of the two spouses needs to be over the required age.
