First, In order for contractors to perform work for our clients and properties they have to have proof of General Liability Insurance and Workers Compensation Insurance Coverage regardless of your size of company or the nature of your service. The coverage isn't that expensive and once covered our Contractors provide us with an insurance certificate each year as their policies are renewed. Contact your insurance agent.
Secondly, I would provide businesses with an easy way of reaching you. Believe it or not business cards work well for us along with a one page flyer that we can file into a three ring binder, post on our bulletin board and email to our agents as a PDF. Make sure your phone numbers including cell phone and email address is shown.
Thirdly, you can consider joining things like the Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, etc. but I'd wait until I have built up a book of business to justify the expense and from which to provide references or reviews.
