We are working with a realtor in Fallbrook, and have seen many properties in remote areas like Rainbow, De Luz, etc. The problem with Fallbrook is the presence of too many fire hazards. On every road and property are highly flammable Oaks, Sycamores, Pines, Palms, Eucalyptus, and no control of weeds.
Southern California is famous for wild fires. Do not think it won't happen again! You need to protect your property with a ton of well irrigated ice plant and well irrigated "green" small trees. Let the mighty oaks carry the sparks elswhere. Oh, and you need to replace roofs with concrete shingles or tiles. Nothing flammable!
Did I mention irrigation in Fallbrook is expensive? We plan to purchase 2+ acres, clear it, go off the grid with solar and turbines, install propane, but no way to reduce that big water bill.
Huge problem is you have no control over the trees on neighboring properties...........
