My first advice will be to watch out for the scams all over the internet. Sites that offer rentals have been plagued by fake ads from people out of the area just looking for a "good person" to rent their home too, usually way below market value. After you send them your information, which they may use to steal your identity, they request a deposit by mail and will send you the keys. DON'T Fall for it!!
Deal locally. There are property management companies who can help you find a rental and not take advantage of you.
