Social events in Miami Shores that community members can’t resist include the Mayor’s Ball, Splash and Bash, Dive In Theatre, Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Christmas Caroling Hayride. Miami Shores is a community of residents with strong civic pride, so it is not uncommon to know your neighbors well and participate in social events in the community.

The 'HALLOWEEN HOWL' is probably the biggest community event of the year, drawing thousands of costume-clad revellers, young and old, to the Second Avenue commercial district, where stages for live music, food booths, games, and funhouses provide all sorts of entertainment from 5pm-8pm. The 'Unity Day' festivities in the Spring also draw thousands of residents to the playing fields for picnics, games, and music. Other popular community events include the annual 'Marshmallow Bunny Drop' at Easter, home tours and carolling at Christmas, the spring-time Outdoor Concert Series, and of course the spectacular Forth of July Fireworks Picnic and Concert at the Country Club, where residents spread blankets and picnics on the manicured greens.
