Can't speak for the Police Department, but as far as investing? It's all relative, you will pay less for a property in that area and when you go to sell it you will get less.(relatively speaking) As far as the actual investment goes, there a lot of programs out there (Section 8, County Assistance) etc. that guarantee rent so it may not be a bad idea for investment. Like anyting else..just go over the numbers, if it makes sense, then do it. ... more
