Guaranteed .. I have lived here since 1962 and I only here about crime, I have never experienced it.
I have seen arguments, never more then i see in the transit system. People are very warm to new comers. East Harlem has been waiting for community improvements and that is on the rise. There are no racial issues. We have hundreds of teachers, Even President Bushes Daughter was going to teacher here. Every neighborhood has it's spots that you get a uncomfortable feeling from. Up here we protect each other. We get a lot of visitors that come to the neighborhood to have drinks or visit a club and that is where the crime begins. We have the best of both worlds .. Central Park and The East River. East Harlem is the newest neighborhood in New York City. We have neighbors that lived at Sutton Place and Central Park South. They have been here for over 12 years now. Something must be
good up here. Lexington Avenue is the spot of living. Central park for enjoyment and all the medical students are taking advantage of the great rents and the cheaper Condo's. I purchased in 1999 for $326K. My property is now worth $2.1 Million and Counting. I think that Bally's changed everything.
It brought people in to the community and they winded up staying for good. Costco's can not be wrong either. Good luck and take care.
