Hi Anne,

By now you know that this property is in the Coatesville School District. I think your best option at this point is to select a Buyers Agent that can help you with your home search. Interview a few to see who you connect with the best and then they can send you MLS listings that will have school information on them so you will always know.

I would be happy to help you with your search so feel free to call!

Hi Anne,

This property is in Coatesville district but that doesn't mean the kids have to go to Coatesville schools. There are plenty of free public Charter schools in the area that supply transportation and then there are also private and Catholic schools the kids can go to as well. So you have some choices!

Hope that helps!

There is no rule, you have to check every house, can be different from across the street. Text me the address and I will text you which school district it is. 610-392-6522.
You can actually eliminate a specific school district or vise verse, search by one.

Have lived in Downingtown for 20 years and my son graduated from the district as an honor student 2 years ago. The district works hard to ensure that all schools are balanced in terms of diversity, demographics (economic status) so that all students achieve regardless of which elementary school they attend. Therefore, they redistrict and redraw lines from which the schools draw their students every couple years, while trying to minimize the distance students travel. If you look at the posted PSSA scores for schools in the district, they aren't radically different from each other, even though E. Ward is located in the borough where some of the more modest housing is located. The district also ensures that the middle schools and high schools (there are two of each) receive students from the wealthier townships as well as the locations with more rural or modest housing so that there is no 'good' high school versus a 'bad' high school I subbed as a school nurse at E. Ward as well as every other elementary school in the district. As with any school, the principal, the teachers at the time, the level of activity of parents in PTA, AND, most importantly, your involvement as a parent will dictate the most important quality in your child's education. E. Ward is a lovely small school with a great playground, upgraded facilities, and a very central location. Can't see any reason why your child wouldn't do very well there... ... more

Call Coatesville School District Administrative offices at 610-466-2400 for the most definitive answer as they may redraw school boundaries yearly for feeder schools. With involved parents, Coatesville schools can offer a great educational experience. Personally know several children who graduated with honors, they have great gifted programs, musical programs, and sports programs, a beautifully maintained high school campus-and a friend's child is about to graduate with honors from a local university and is on his way to a top law school. The district is what you make of it-but the opportunities are there... ... more
