For crime statistics in any neighborhood, check with the local police or sherrifs department. Many counties and cities have a web site you can go to and look up information.

Hi Doris! You can research the local stats by looking half way down the page where the map is showing the neighborhood statistics related to crime, school rankings, walk score, etc.

Hello,

Realtors are not allowed to comment on crime rates nor are we as informed as the local police department. To answer your question correctly, I would suggest contacting the local police department in that area and asking them, they will have the best answer for you.

If you are interested in viewing crimes in any given area, you can also check these web sites out;

Hello,

Realtors can't answer questions relating to crimes or safety of any neighborhood, but we can give you the tools to answer those questions your self.

As Pam said, the best place to get that information is at the local police department. I would also walk up and down the street and talk to a few neighbors in the area and see what they say.

There are also multiple places on the internet that you can research different crime statistics, here a few for you;

https://www.crimereports.com/

http://spotcrime.com/

http://www.mylocalcrime.com/

Thank you and Good Luck!

Chris Mitchell answered:
Just be attentive of your surroundings and you will be fine. If a place looks sketchy, they don't go! Many great places in Detroit to visit, but plenty of bad areas too. Much like any city.

If you are in the downtown area, you should be ok as long as you keep with another person. That area is a bit safer for tourists. Wandering into the neighborhoods, and particularly on the west side, is poor idea, steer clear.
