I am not a realtor so I can share what I know of the known good areas in Detroit. Try Rosedale Park,
English Village, Indian Village, University District, Palmer Woods, Palmer Park, the Bagley District to name a few. Also, check a website called skinny zip it will give you highlevel demographics which specifically speaks to the income levels in the area. If you want guaranteed occupancy all year round buy in Downtown Detroit. As for areas to be leary of stay away from Brightmoor and a cross street called Beewick and Mack. The eastside seems to have less demand than the west side of Detroit because of the high vacancy rate. Also along the Outer Drive Area you can find gorgeous homes. In the area codes 48202, 48206 which is close to the hospital there seems to be high demand in this area because it is in or near the New Center. They just opened a whole foods there. There is also a Starbucks in this area. Hope that helps.
