Looking for something that is better quality than IKEA, but still reasonably priced.

I'm not sure but even at going out of business prices LIMN is probably still very expensive, which probably has a lot to do with why they are going out of business.

There is a place called Nomadic Arts that has teak and mahogany furniture at 342 9th.

There is a place call Furniture Innovation right down the block at 390 9th St. Although some of their things are not the best quality, we got a great deal on really high quality sofa and they can order things as well.

There are several stores on 9th St and streets that run off it, you might just want to walk around there and check out a few. I would avoid the place on 9th across from the shopping center where trader joe's is though. They advertise, "pennies on the dollar," on high end merchandise, but I've been there twice and I couldn't find any deals to be had, plus you have to go and talk to the guy to get pricing on every item in the store.

One piece of advice - don't buy anything you haven't seen in person. If you see something you like in a catalog, find out where you can check it out in person. You'll be glad you did.

Hello there,

If you are interested in modern furniture are affordable prices, here are some of my pics:

Funky Furniture:

These are pretty good copies of designer furniture, very decent quality and price.

CB2:

West Elm ( WE):

Their store is located in Emeryville, very close to SF. Their taste used to be more ethnic/rustic, but I am surprised of how they've turned around their design image lately. They have a more modern/organic vibe, a very nice look and lots of selections.

Good luck!

Alina

We came across the Macy's furniture store ( different than the department store) near hillsdale shopping center, and they had some decent items. You can also try cost plus world market. For what it's worth I like some of Ikea's furniture but I always find myself asking,

My wife and I have been looking for some good furniture to put in our empty apartment. We just got married and moved into our own apartment. Right now, there is literally no furniture in our apartment and we need places to sit. We have been looking around trying to find the best furniture that would go with our apartment. We hope to have all of our furniture by next week.
