Hello Jwoehlkens! Let me be one of the first to Welcome you to Denver! As you are aware, the Denver-Aurora is a fantastic area to live, work and play and is a great place to raise a family! I am a native to Denver, grew up in the north metro area and now call the south metro area home and in my many years of calling this area home, the Cherry Creek schools have consistently been one of the top achieving schools in the state. The area also has excellent options for private education and I would be happy to assist in obtaining more information regarding relocating to the Mile High City!

Below are a few sites to help you get started with your search:

kodocharty,

I received my training from Real Estate Training Center more than 20 years ago and continue to utilize there services for continuing education as well as additional courses wanted and needed to further my career. They have been in business since 1969 and offer an online class (although when I started nothing was on line) The Colorado test is not easy but with the test prep you receive from RETC several of the agents that I referred and work with me including myself passed the test on the 1st try.

Regards and good fortune sent your way.

Tyson,

In my brief research, this is the way it reads about the HOA - [No Hoa! Partwall Agreement and $70 A Month Maintenance Fee For Water, Sewer, Trash, and Snow Removal] . Let me know if I can help you with this or another property in the red hot Highlands area.

AdWright,

This home is in the East High School district. My family lives blocks away on Niagara Street and all of my sisters went to East High when we moved here from Oklahoma. Nice looking home. I drive by it nearly every day. This post shows it is wiser to buy than to rent - http://j.mp/RWrZi3 - When you decide to purchase rather than paying someone else's mortgage don't hesitate to contact me.

Trulia Denver,

Interesting question. Why do you ask? I would say that 'most' college students go to school in or near the Downtown area. Lodo is a very popular area. There are also areas in Capitol Hill and Highlands that are popular hangouts. The students going to DU are excited about Washington Park and all the exciting bars, restaurants, around this beautiful park. Cherry Creek is another great hangout due to the shopping center and nice bars and restaurants there as well.

You need to call each school district and inquire. In Southeast Denver where I reside there have been lots of boundary changes and not all Realtors are aware of the changes. This is the only way to really determine which school is the correct boundary for the neighborhood. I am currently working closely with Denver Public Schools Planning and can fill you in on the happenings in the Southeast area if that is of interest to you. Please feel free to contact me on 303-589-6692 or debtaylor99@comcast.net.

Parents think highly of the elementary schools in Congress Park, Hilltop, Crestmoor, Stapleton and Park Hill. My son went to Hill Middle School (in Hilltop) which has an excellent honors and advanced honors program. East High School and the Schools for Science and Technology are simply great schools. Though DPS allows students to "choose" into any school the most popular schools have waiting lists - to avoid being on this list it is best to live in the neighborhood which the school serves as they have to accept the student. ... more

Susan Konsel…, Real Estate Pro in Denver, CO
Mon Aug 8, 2011
Susan Konsella answered:
Hi Lisa,

There are numerous neighborhoods that feed into Lakewood High School for their home school..Westmoor Acres, Cedar Crest, Briarwood Hills, Meadowlark Hills...just to name a few. The geographical boundaries are roughly Union/Simms to the West, then east to roughly about 8 blocks east of Wadsworth. It appears that the north/south boundaries are Mississippi to the south and 26th Avenue (Lakewood City boundary) to the north. Within those neighborhoods, there are homes that will fill any price range to fit your budget.

I also wanted to let you know (if you didn't already) that Jefferson County had an open enrollment policy so your child doesn't necessarily need to live in the geographical area to attend the school (but living there guarantees acceptance). My 2 oldest sons attend Lakewood High School and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the school or real estate in the Lakewood/Denver/Littleton areas.

Good luck with your home search. My contact info is below. Have a great day!

Wendy Glazer answered:
Hi Donald,
It looks like you have all the websites below to go view and see test scores and school information.

I am a 3rd generation Denver Native and actually went to Hill Jr. High and George Washington High School. (Basically, I really know these neighborhoods!) Plus, I use to be a teacher in the Cherry Creek School District. I also did some substitute teaching at Bromwell. It is such an overwhelming process when trying to fit your kids to the best possible choice. I would love to sit down with you and talk about it. I certain can relate having been through it.

Currently, my kids go to Graland, the private school just down the street from Steck. It is in the Hilltop neighborhood. Most my business is around this area, Lowry, Denver Country Club, Cherry Hills Village and Cherry Creek. It sounds like these are the neighborhoods that might be of interest to you.

It is difficult to try to sort all the information through an email. Please feel free to call me or email me for more help.

Best of Luck,
Wendy Glazer
