You don't need to go by zip codes. It's up to each landlord whether they will accept your voucher or not. As a guideline, if you look in neighborhoods with regular rent prices that are about the same as your voucher, you should be fine. If you look in neighborhoods where the regular rent prices are much higher, landlords will refuse your voucher because they can get tenants without vouchers who can pay those higher rent prices. ... more

Hello,

I suggest you find a local apartment locator for the area you are searching for. Most of them are free of charge and will quickly generate a listing for you.

The demand for rental is extremely high in DFW and makes difficult to use the section 8.

Hope this info helps.

Bobbie Culberson answered:
The demand for rental properties is so high that most owners or management companies will not accommodate 6 months lease terms.

One easy suggestion will be to rent a larger apartment. It may not be like a house, but you may get the 6 month lease term.

Hope that helps

The best approach will be to contact an apartment locator or a real estate agent who will most likely have information of which properties can accommodate your situation.

It is becoming harder and harder to find a home or apartment for rent with a voucher. The demand is so high for the moment. NPR had a dedicated talk show about how difficult it has become to use the voucher.

The easiest advice will be to search for some local locators or real estate agents for the area you're searching for.

I hope this help a bit.

Thankk you

Hello,

We’re excited you’re using Trulia for your home search process. We are a real estate search engine so we don't represent the homes found on our site. Please follow these steps to begin your home search:

1. Click the "Rent' tab at the top of our homepage.
2. Enter your desired city and state in the search bar and hit Enter.
3. Click 'Max Price' to select what your highest price would be to pay for a home. Click 'Min Price' to set the lowest price you would pay.
4. Click 'More Filters'.
5. Select your preferred property type, square footage, etc.
6. Click the red 'Apply' button.

This will begin to pull up listings that are more tailored to what you are looking for.

If you are interested in a listing, click on the "Contact the agent" button to get in touch with a real estate professional in your area. You can also take advantage of our vast network of agents here:

Susie Kay answered:
That depends on the landlord/property manager. Since it's a hot rental market in DFW, many landlords are picky in selecting their tenants. If you must move and rent, you can tell the landlord your situation. Think also the answers to the following questions: Have you been paying your previous rent on time? Do you have any bills in collection? Any criminal record? How stable is your employment? How much do you make? You can offer the landlord double or triple deposit if you have the money and you have to move and rent.

I hope this helps!
