Rental market especially in North Dallas area (Plano etc) is extremely hot. Landlords can afford to be very selective. What you can do is to disclose this upfront and see what landlord says. What nearby city do you have in mind? I would suggest that you drive around the nearby city and determine whether you like it or not. Also what is your budget? You should always look in the area/city in your budget.

I hope this helps!

Looking for legal advise. Not sure if I can put leans on these properties because I was a sub contractor for Diamond

It may. I'm a certified VA agent and I would suggest that you interview your lender and make sure that you have a lender knowledgeable about VA.
