What’s up with the Mediterranean monstrosity of a house that has sat incomplete at the top of Runyon Canyon?

I'm a Trulia intern this summer. I found this question on Curbed LA and was wondering if anyone in the neighborhood had a status update.

It is for sale but has many issues dealing with code. The current owner had a partnership with another person. They illegally built on some levels which may not be grandfathered in. It supposedly comes with several acres which could be developed. There is also another catch: An nuderground powerline must be installed which will run about $1 million. A client of mine was very close to pulling off this deal and walked away as there were way too many variables.
