I'm pretty sure you're referring to an Elevation Certificate, created by a surveyor to determine the elevation of the home and equipment (A/C, ect) above the flood plane. The elevation is a major factor in determining the risk factor of flooding to the home, and therefore the cost of flood insurance. A lender would require flood insurance, so you would be advised to have your insurance company give you a flood insurance quote based upon the info in the Elevation Certificate. ... more

Ed, there are so many variables involved and each insurance company may change it's underwriting criteria or rates at any time that you must be very specific as to the property that they may insure. If you know the exact property you can get quotes on the property. Caveat: get at least three! ... more
