Absolutely, Summerlin is a very safe part of town. Check out the Trulia Las Vegas Crime Map here:,NV/

No it's not it's continuous crime-ridden area complete with a mall and a quick access to the freeway so criminals can get back to their side of town !
We are 3 cars and all three of them have been broken and in less than a year!
And Section 8 and drug activity are in every neighborhood in Summerlin.
Especially Summerlin because Metro Police doesn't Patrol this area unless there's a call because it's out of their area !
NV HOA here is ridiculous trying to enforce decisions they made 15 years ago which does not apply to these areas at this time safety is my priority!
Hughes management also has a local towing company doing regular rounds to tow anyone's cars!
I see two or three cars being towed out of my area on a weekly basis!
I don't care if a guy paints his brick wall or if he has a trailer down the street that's irrelevant.l!
And this a management company has okayed the construction of a large mall across the street now the crime here has skyrocketed !
We are so out of here !

Hi Violi,

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police website has a page where you can search crime statistics. We've included the link below.

You can try this site also:

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Hi Violy,

I can see you have already had lots of answers to your question, but I will chime in with my two cents anyway. Summerlin is an extremely popular community and considered by many to be one of the best in the Valley.

That being said, as agents we are not supposed to "profile" different areas of town as safe or unsafe. But we can provide you with the Las Vegas crime statistics web site so you can draw your own conclusions.

It's pretty cool once you get used to how it works. To start, simply enter a property address at the top to search. When that specific property's area map opens, you can adjust the criteria by using the tabs above the map for crime types, dates, etc. The date will only go back for the past six months, but if you use the same criteria consistently it will give you a great idea of how much relative crime there is within a certain radius of a given address.

I like to search by zip codes myself. You can plug in the address as "89138, Las Vegas, NV" and pull up everything within a mile radius.

If you are truly concerned about crime, you may want to locate lower crime zip codes first and then look for homes within those zip codes rather than looking for a home first. You can go to this site and search for homes by zip code:

If you have any other questions, just let us know. We have been agents here more than 30 years, so we should have the answers. :)

Hope this helps!

Las Vegas feels safer than most major cities when you are away from the strip. And the Police Dept is well trained and very professional..Not a worry.

Safe is in the eye of the beholder. You can never be too safe or too carefeul. Keeping that in mind, Summerlin is a great neighborhood with great schools, hospitals, roads, etc. Those are great signs of a safe area. Contact me for any further question.

My wife and I have lived and worked in Vegas since 1976. The only real "Safe" neighborhood is one that is guard gated with armed guards like Spanish Trails. The safest areas not guard gated would be 7 Hills Anthem area. If you have to be in Summerlin, try staying west of Rainbow and in gated community. If you would like my wife and I too help you find a safe area to live, please contact us. Feel free to use our web site below to search for current listings.

Summerlin is a very nice area. The Summerlin design is used as a model for planned communities around the country. Summerlin has large parks and miles of walking trails. There are some of the best golf courses in and around Summerlin. There are many gated communities and guard gated subdivisions within the wonderful Summerlin community. There are web sites that you can check out the crime statistic just google key phrases. Also will have statistics. I have a video and some information about Summerlin on my Trulia blog. Take a look. I hope I answered your question .
Thank You
