Accepted?
Agree with B: make sure your car is in the garage.
ALL of the apartment complexes in the Jakes way area are equally suspect when it comes to security.
Why would you want to live at Colony? Freeway noise, TRAIN noise (and dont believe you wont hear it), thin walls (you'll hear as well as feel your neighbors garage door open), poor maintenance of AC units (and you only find THAT out on the first 105 degree day of the year), management that accepts section 8... i could go on and on.
(yeah, i lived there, luckily it was only three months while i was waiting for my house to finish construction... and the only reason i was there was they would do a short term lease)

It's fairly safe as long as you park your car in your garage only. Parking your car in the guest parking areas can result in your car being towed. And for those who have had to park outside the gates, there has been incidents of cars being vandalized - windows broken, tires slashed, etc.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
