Why are you listing the crime rate for Suffolk County (which includes Boston and its neighborhoods) as well as Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop which?

Asked by Art Canter, Roslindale, MA Tue Sep 4, 2012

does not truly reflect Roslindale itself. I think you should dispense with this since it does not portray the crime rate just for Roslindale OR show the crime rate for each of the specific neighborhoods. Ther perception based on the rate is that Roslindale is a high crime area and that is not the case!

It is no different when one reads a "national" figure for home sales - it is factual but macro in nature. To really understand the facts a micro analysis is needed. No different for crime stats - murders could be up city-wide but your neighborhood has not seen a murder for 25 years. Data for Suffolk County is a valid sample base - maybe you can micro-analyze it by zip code?

Welcome to the internets!

It's always best to check with your local police department for true crime statistics.
