Joy,

I don't know if you're still interested in the Port Orange city data. I answered your question 2 years ago, but I just deleted my answer, since the links have changed. The ones I provided at that time are now dead. So here is a fantastic link to Port Orange statistics: http://www.zillow.com/local-info/FL-Port-Orange/r_33498/

Also, I live and work in Port Orange, and I'm a Daytona Beach native. I've sold real estate in every city in east Volusia County. If you're still interested, I'd love to help.

Sincerely,

The site below is to one page in my web site, strictly for Port Orange. If you click the "home" button, you can start from the beginning, and view the front page. You can also view my listings, and video tours of some of them. Our market is improving! So far, for every city I've checked this year, we have increased sales. You can view those charts on my blog at http://www.RealEstateBlogConnect.com. Here's the link directly to the Port Orange blog =)

All of the answer below are correct !
We moved to Port Orange 2 years ago and the area that we live isn't gated, but there is no crime we are very happy that we found a home i such a neighborhood ! I would like to share a true story with you...
We moved to a town in the N.Eastern part of the country and where we lived was within a short distance to major cities. But you had to drive though small cities to get to the larger ones !
Most small cities don't tolerate foolishness . One day the federal government decided to open a by pass from the bigger city to the town we lived in.. Over night the lifestyle changed with major crime such as this small town had only seen on television. We now live in P.O. If you are looking to relocate your family to a new area, check with all the government agents and enquirer about future plans for growth.
You're be happy you did.

Unfortunately, crime stats do not tell the story as they comingle high-crime areas with the low-crime areas within a city. In Port Orange, for example, you have the Spruce Creek Fly-in (http://www.7fl6.com) which is a private, gated, security-patrolled community and the crime here is practically zero. Similarly with Pelican Bay and other secured communities. On the other hand, there are, like in any city, areas that are victimized by crime often. The local Police department can provide you with a candid overview that statistics cannot.

Hi There,

Researching crimes statistics can be easily done online, but often times these sites are not updated as much as they should be. Your best bet for the most accurate and up to date information is seeking the help of a local police department and asking them to provide the police log for the last 12 months for the neighborhood and surrounding areas you are researching.

Hi Joy, I would check with such demographics census as the following:
http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=8865#Crim
Crime Number
Total 21,624
Murder 17
Rape 232
Robbery 655
Aggravated Assault 2,443
Burglary 4,741
Larceny - theft 11,692
Motor vehicle thefts 1,754
Coverage indicator 100%

check the crime section which has 3 differents links.
The next one is for safety in Port Orange.

I think that if you look at US index and ten being the worse, Port Orange is a 4-5 from what I saw. This is open to discussions as what you really care about are the violent crimes. make sure you make a difference between the County and Port Orange .
