What do you know about Pill Hill in Oakland?

Asked by Heather, Berkeley, CA Fri Aug 20, 2010

Hi - I'm wondering what the story is with Pill Hill in Oakland. Is it a generally safe neighborhood? There seem to be many foreclosures in the area, and properties are selling for very cheap (pretty much Richmond prices). I'm wondering what the reason is for that. Thank you.

You can ask yourself to the residents of the area from forums, here is a good website http://www.city-data.com you can ask all your questions.

Hope it helps!

Where there are hospitals, there are ambulances and a lack of street parking. If you see a listing that is cheaper than its local counterparts, you should do a background check out the building if it's a condo. Find out if there is any pending litigation, issues with the builder, or major repairs and/or assessments needed. If an HOA or a building is in litigation, for example, a lender might not extend a mortgage loan to you. There are some great deals, but if something is cheaper than it should be, there is probably a reason.

I think you need to look at the area block by block. There is often a big difference between blocks. Overall the market in a lot of neighborhoods have had a big drop in price and you can often find a place thats really nice but often the places that have sold for really low prices where in poor condition.
