Hello Carol, Venice is a beautiful place to live. Located on the gulf where there are many interesting places that make Venice so special. As a resident since 1972 and a Venice High School graduate, I know this area very well. Please go to http://www.sarasotasherriff.org to find this information. I personally do not live all that far away from this area, which is close to shopping, dining and beaches. Please also check out my website at http://janissellsflorida.com.

Hi Carol:

A lot of good answers here and I don't mean to repeat. I won't repost the sherriff's site but that is helpful. Also try...

City data has some good info.

Hi Carol,

Both of those streets are in tucked away residential areas, yet in close proximity to shopping and all the amenities of Venice. Currently, there are no active listings on either of those streets, so the information that you looked out may have pointed you to homes that are no longer available.

If you need someone to help you, at no cost, I'm one of the few Exclusive Buyer's Agents in the area, and would be happy to serve you.

Best regards,

Carol,
There is good infomation on the Sarasota County Sherrif's site http://www.sarasotasheriff.org. According to those stastics, violent crime is down 5.285 and non violent crime down 4.505 over last year.

Both of those neighborhoods have good value, contact me for more details.

Hi Carol,
I am an agent local to the area and live about 20 minutes from Venice. The best and most reliable source of data you can get locally is from http://www.city-data.com You can search demographics and information on a specific city.

I am familiar with both of the homes you looked at right off of Jacaranda Blvd. Do you want to be in Venice, or just close to the beach under 200K? You may want to look a little further south in Rotonda, or Englewood. Let me know if you want any similar listings in Charlotte County. jastarbuck@embarqmail.com

If you are concerned about crime, your best source of information is the local police department, why not visit/call and ask all your questions, they'll gladly help--also consider revisiting the area(s) more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals, drive around, look at everything that is important to you, etc., and then make your determination--will your comfort level be reached.
