My question is what are the best areas in Pensacola to live in, i.e. safe and things to do in the area?

Asked by Kevin Jones, San Diego, CA Fri Dec 26, 2008

I'm getting stationed in Pensacola in June. I'm thinking about buying a house and have found several homes of interest on Trulia. I want something fairly close to base, but in a good neighborhood. Any help is appreciated.

Hello Kevin,
Here are links to the Pensacola Police Dept. and the Escambia County Sheriff's Dept.
These are the two primary law enforcement agencies in the county. They should be able to provide quite a bit of crime related information to you.
As in many areas, you can have pockets of good neighborhoods in area where crime might be a problem and pockets of crime in generally good neighborhoods. I can tell you from working with my clients over the years that many people prefer the northeast region of Pensacola for many reasons including proximity to medical and educational institutions, shopping and entertainment, good schools and neighborhoods. But virtually every area of the county has something good to offer; it all depends on your needs and tastes.
If you can, check with some of your fellow military personnel as they can offer you their insight and first hand experience. Feel free to contact me for additional information. And, best of luck in your career!

Kevin, I hope these links will help...…
Links provided by Trulia to many sources of information about the community. The police dept where you can get crime statistic information.. Site provides housing trend information, crime statistics, community info ect.. can be broken down into neighborhoods.. If you decide to rent, site give rental trends, available rentals ect... can type in address and it will compare it with other rentals in area..

If you decide to buy then learn as much as possible so you can find an agent who you will feel confident in representing your interests and goals. There are some good ones to choose from but you must know the questions to ask to seperate them from the not so good. It's your money and financial committment so protect them...

Best of luck, Dunes

Hi Kevin,

If you will be stationed at NAS Pensacola, most of the close neighborhoods have been built outside the back gate. A few of my Navy clients live in these areas. What you will want to do is tour the area when you are on house hunting leave and get a feel for the area that will work best. Many military choose their home location based on a commute time comfortable to them. Good Luck!

The best source for community safety is the local police department. They have access to the most current and accirate information and are generally very willing to be helpful.
