Just looking for crime stats for the Oak Park area. Have a house in mind in the area and wanted to see if anyone could comment on the atmosphere.

Asked by Marc Richard, Oak Park, San Diego, CA Sun Jan 3, 2010

The concern is regarding crime and safety more so than anything else. We are coming from Japan on military orders and nothing in my 19 years of traveling the world compares to the safety and security of Japan (at least Okinawa). Granted it is expected that big city = more crime but I know there are places in San Diego that have a higher concentration of non-violent residents and wanted to see if Oak Park was one of those places.

Generaly speaking its not an area you want to be in. you might want to try the allied gardens area. HOmes for sale and rent in that area are pretty decent.

You are correct with your assumption....every large city has its issues.

When it comes to crime and safety the best resource for accurate information is often the local police department. They have access to the most current information and are generally willing to be helpful.

Good luck with your move.....
