To think crime does not, and can not, occur behind a gated entrance is a bit wishful thinking.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

The only truely "safe" neighborhood is Guard Gated with armed guards but these properties are muhc more expeonsive. Gated communities look nice but do not keep bad guys out as anyone can enter behind someone who is driving in the gate. They can walk in as well. There are safer areas in town over others. Call me tomorrow and I'll go over them with you. We've been here since 1976 so we know Vegas very well. Thanks, Matt and KIm

Guard-gated communities do not ensure safety. I lived in a guard-gated community in the heart of Summerlin and had intruders in my home. The only thing that will keep you safe is your own diligence. Have an alarm system and use it. Lock your doors, especially the door from the garage. Don't leave your car parked outside with the garage door opener in it (as my ex did). Don't open the door when strangers come to your house. Know your neighbors - you watch out for them, they watch out for you. Be street smart. This advice is not just for Las Vegas, it is for everywhere. Be smart and you will be safe. You do not need to live in a guard-gated community to be safe. That is a false sense of security.

Crime happens that is just the way it is. Sometimes it is the people who live behind the gates who are the ones who do the crimes.
