I would say it is sought after for many reasons. It has a low cost HOA that keeps the area in good shape and the home prices are a little lower than the Spanos Area on Average. However, there is more than one Stonewood in Stockton. So I have to assume you are speaking about the one most people just refer to as Stonewood and not Stonewood one or two. If you would like to discuss this further feel free to call or email. Also here is a decent link for you to look at data for that area.

Hello Camilla,
Another great real source to use in http://crimemapping.com. It will pull recent crimes in the area. Aslos try truila's crime feature: http://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Stockton-California/crime/

Overall, Stonewood is a good area. It is well kept and maintained by neighbors. When driving the area you get the sense that there are a lot of owner occupied homes because of how they are cared for.

There is an Home owners association(HOA) where owners pay yearly dues around $250. With the HOA is a community swimming pool and tennis courts.
Whether you are looking to purchase to live in or as an investment, Stonewood is an area I would consider.

If you need any further info, don't hesitate to contact me.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
