Derrick, you can also search for the counties school website. Broard County, for example is There you can see the rating of the school, and who is the principal. You can also arrange for a meeting with the principal to discuss specific issues. Like how many teachers hold a Masters Degree in Education etc...
You can also ask what the county allocates, in dollars per pupil. To give you an example, some counties allocate $7k per pupil. If you measure that against other high end school districts, in other parts of the country, they allocate $20k-$25K per student.

Hi Derrick,

I reccomend the areas of Winter Garden and Windermere because of the low crime rates. I'm not a fan of the city because of the crime. You can verify all this on any statistical data website or just pull the demographics. I could even send you that if you would like. If you're purchasing a vacation home parts of Kissimmee are perfect for that but if you're not than I reccomend Hunters Creek. As far as the schools you would have to narrow it down to a neighborhood or two because there are entirely too many schools to categorize them all with just one word like "good" or "bad".

As Real Estate agents, we can't actually advise on how good schools may be ("good" or "bad" schools can be defined in MANY ways from athletics and the arts, to academics), same goes for crime. So all we can really do is be the source of your sources, assisting you form your own opinion on if crime is low enough for you and schools are good enough.

IN GENERAL though, Orange County (Orlando) schools are "better" than in Kissimmee (more A rated schools), and Seminole County schools are better yet. To get information on school grades check out and for public opinions on schools check out

Every area is going to have it's pockets of crime, a neat website that keeps up with alot of crime stats that allows you to search via map is

You are asking the right questions. However the best source for information regarding community safety is the local police department or county sheriff's department. They have access to the most accurate and current information and are generally very willing to be helpful.

Great question!
I guess I would first ask what are your needs. This way I could better understand where to look and and advise.
Overall Both Orlando and Kissimmee are great family locations and just like any other community we have the same issues with crime and schools.
Check the link below for more information ( no its not my Real estate website).
