Hello, as a Realtor and resident of Oak Park, I cannot, as a Realtor and as indicated in the other answers, comment about specifics--However--we, in Oak Park, are proud of our community and our police department.
Oak Park is a great place to live!
A couple of suggestions, 1. simply Google, oak park illinois police department, then click on the site or go to . You will see a menu on left for "Community Policing" and then click to "Resident Beat Officer Program". In Oak Park we have an officer assigned to every neighborhood! Click and see a quarterly Newsletter for the appropriate area in which you may want to live. The Newsletter is written by that neighborhood's Beat Officer on a quarterly basis. The officer's contact info is also included, so you can personally contact him or her! How many communities that you know of offer this kind of service?. This should give you the information you are seeking.
If you have any other questions about Oak Park, please let me know. My contact info is, or and 708-557-8109. All the best, Nancy

If you are concerned about safety, the local police department is your best source of information, why not call/visit and ask all your questions, they'll gladly help. If you are not familiar with the area, do visit more than once and at different times of day, look at everything of importance, possibly chat with locals, etc., then make your determination.

Hey Mike,

Realtors are mandated that we can't answer questions like that.

Here's the website link to the Village. Give them a call and I'm sure they can help you.

Realtors are not allowed to comment on the safety of particular neighborhoods. I can suggest that you go to the local police department to obtain crime statistics for the area. You can also talk to neighbors, who I'm sure will be happy to talk about issues if there are any.

Try to Google "crime in Oak Park" to see if anyone has blogged about problems.

Good luck!
