Is Dallas' Zip of 75218 a safe neighborhood for 2 young women to live?

Asked by Christina, Richardson, TX Mon Aug 25, 2008

Are there any specific areas that you would rate as a safe area? Are there any online resources to see saftey reports? We are currently residing in Richardson, TX and are originially from California so we are trying to decide where the best neighborhood would be saftey and affordability wise for our future home. Thanks so much!!

Hi Christina

I have been living and lending in East Dallas since 2006. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the areas around White Rock Lake and East Dallas from a resident's perspective. Like all large cities, there are pockets of good and not so good!

I would search places like and Realtors aren't allowed to comment on crime rates, and that's where an agent would look anyway. Richardson is a very popular area, and still seems to be fairly affordable.

Yes, like any neighborhood there can be parts that aren't as safe as others, but over all, yes. Living close to White Rock Lake is a very hot area.

I live and work in that zip code and I LOVE IT! Great neighborhood watch and 3 doors down I live next to Dallas Swat Team Officer. A mile or less down the road is police station.

A hidden jewel -- the ENCLAVE AT GROVE HILL is the only NEW GATED COMMUNITY that is INNER CITY. the community is 4 miles to downtown. DAVID WEEKLEY is the home builder and is well known in the Houston and Dallas market. This community can be found at the intersection of LAWNVIEWN @ GROVE HILL; you can build a brand new home or buy and existing home. This is a surprise to a lot of folks - even the Dallas Police stats for 2009 show this community experience's the least amount of crime compare to the rest of the City! Folks call this community THE NEW EAST DALLAS........i hope this helps you out? Most important, do your research. one more thing, i'm not an agent just and person involved in his community

Safe is always a relative word......I don't worry a bit on lower Greenville, but there seems to be frequent crime in the area. Lots of people like to live downtown now, but there is likely petty crime around. There are a few great resources around. I think it is best to contact your Community Resource Officer or CRO at the police department. Just call the main non-emergency number and ask to be connected to the CRO. They’re normally very aware of the good and bad areas of the area and can normally give you local statistics. You can also check out which provides stats based on the FBI uniform crime reports. You might also visit the FBI stats site at Another place to checkout is . Hope this is of you to you.

Hi Christina,
The map Naima has pasted is a great way to find out crime reports in any area of Dallas. I happen to live in 75218 and find it to be a very nice place to live. White Rock Lake is walking distance from many areas that may be of interest to you. Downtown Dallas is also very, very close.

If you are very concerned about safety, one place to consider is a gated community called the Enclave at White Rock. This is a community of 166 homes that has walking/jogging trails, two ponds with gorgeous fountains, and homes are only around 10 years old. Currenlty, there are only 3 homes on the market in this neighborhood, and I will list another home in this neighborhood on October 1. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, almost 2200 square feet, a study, 2 dining areas, and more.

If you're interested in knowing more about this area and maybe some other neighborhoods that you'd prefer, please contact me. I'd be happy to help!

Have a great day,
Jennifer Lewis
