If a house is redtagged what are the laws about continueing to live in it?

Asked by Dianak, Lansing, MI Fri Mar 26, 2010

I was just wondering if there was a way someone could live in a redtagged home without getting in trouble? Meaning does it have to be redtagged for certain reasons and could I find out those reasons?

You would need to contact the building department in the town/city it is located. There are different types of red tags up to condeming the whole teh property. Usually red tags are put on the furnace or hot water heaters or other items as an immediate danger. Different area's have different types of red tags to continue to use but recommends replacement, to discontinue use at once and immediately replace. So as an answer you could live in a house with a red tag depending on what it was for and how serious of the condition.
