The neighborhood is great. Check out http://www.5541cullom.com

Also, consult with the local municipality for crime statistics

You'll find that no Realtors will answer your question directly because it's against the law for us to do so. It is best for you to do the research on your own on the interludes, and spend some good time in the area day and night to see how it feels.

It looks like you are moving from Albany Park. Portage Park will seem like the North Shore.

Try taking a walk down Montrose. When you get to Laramie, hang a left. Spend an hour zigzagging to Irving Park. See how you feel. Do you feel nervous? Scared? Not willing to do that alone?

Then do it again at night.

This is always a good test for one's crime fears.

Wear a CSI shirt, just in case.

Are you working with a Realtor? If not, your should. As per crime visit the area at different times of the day and see how you feel. Also, visit the local police station and ask.
