Try going to this website: it is a legit site run by Trans Union, one of the big 3 reporting agencies. See what they have for credit info on you. There is advice on the website and credit offers which might help you gain more credit. I have also worked with local lenders that can help build your credit by getting a couple of trades. Chris at Wells Fargo and Mike at Mann Mortgage are good resources.

If your credit is too thin this means that your don't have enough credit.

Try opening a secured credit card, keep a low balance on it, and pay your bill on time every month.

I am not aware of a file being" too thin". Rather than trying to get your credit score, I would talk to a mortgage lender. They can help and direct you to the right sources, in case you need to build your credit.
