Can a buyer who has claimed bankruptcy qualify to purchase a home three years later?

Yes, there are certain criteria, such as the hardship encountered which led to filing the petition, but there are some programs to aid the buyer. Do you have a lender?

in short yes but will depend on the circumstances so it would be best if the buyer talked to a few lenders to see where they stand (assuming they will be financing).

Yes. We are seeing in Oregon two years. In some cases in 12 months if the bankruptcy was due to an "economic event". Please consult a lender for more specifics. Good luck!
