Mongolia gives its citizens the constitutional right to home ownership. In practice, of course, they're so poor that everybody has to go to the crowded city slums, but clearly, it is philosophically important for them.
People like to talk about the visions of our Founding Fathers. Well, while we teach schoolkids that people came from Europe to find religious freedom, many many many many more people came for property ownership and the pursuit of affluence.
We have been under psychological siege since 9/11, and we may have forgotten what it was like before that: the New Millennium, when Y2K was the biggest problem facing America!
