Hello anyone, I need help... I am looking for a storefront around 1000sq ft, in or around Bucktown, Wicker park or close by in that area. But looking for the CHEAPEST one. I will take it " as is ", does not have to look pretty at all, I will paint,do flooring, shovel snow, cut the grass, and keep it well maintained. I will help maintain the whole building if the landlord will deduct it from the rent. I am just starting my business and need to keep the budget low, so please if anyone out in the area walking your dog or just feeding those birds, please keep your eyes open for a nice cheap place in a good location for Chi Town Custom Cycles. Motorized pedal bikes that is what we will be introducing to Chi-town., when the shop opens come on over for a cold one, soda that is. Email me for the grand opening info, coming this summer enjoy cruising thru Chi-town streets with kickass bikes. No license or registration needed to ride. please feel free to email me at Let me end this with the biggest THANK YOU. ... more

Hi Stephanie,

Your budget will work just fine, however it is just way too early to know what will be on the market by then.

Usually 60 days before your move in is when you can start to get an idea of what is on the market. Hope that helps!

Most landlords would like to see a credit score of minimum 640, others are more flexible and willing to look at employment history, utility bills pay on time, personal savings and recommendations of past landlords.

Write a letter explaining why is the reason for that low credit score and how you will help to maintain the property in good shape.

Best of Luck,

Trevor Curran answered:
Good afternoon Beverly803,

We see many credit reports with low credit scores (anything less than 620), and often many scores in the 500's. This is BAD credit. If you are one of the folks affected by this terrible economy, you have a low credit score and you have a dream of buying a home, here's some simple advice for you.

It is unlikely you could be approved for mortgage financing with that credit score at this time.

Beware of any mortgage professionals promising you an approval with such a low score. Wait on buying a home. I recommend you take the time to resolve your credit issues.

First, settle any outstanding debt. If you owe money on collection accounts, charge-offs and/or judgments, make payment arrangements and get these accounts paid promptly.

Next, begin rebuilding your credit. If you have current accounts with good payment histories, or even some previous late-payment-blemishes, make sure you continue to pay those accounts on time. If you do not have any existing credit accounts then you'll need to establish several in order to create a viable credit history.

I have found that CONSUMER ACTION is an excellent resource for objective advice on all things credit related. You'll find free and sincere advice on everything from settling collection accounts to rebuilding credit to building credit from scratch on their website.

Beware of anyone offering to "repair" your credit! The Federal Trade Commission issued a stern warning last year that such offers are scams. Find more from the FTC HERE.

The best way to buy a home is to have a decent credit history combined with sufficient Income and Assets for a home purchase.

The best way to have a decent credit history is to settle negative outstanding obligations and pay all your bills on time for at least two years.

As a former Humboldt Park resident of many years, I am a legally allowed to tell you that there are many dogs that utilize the park from the California side. You will notice one breed is dominant but all breeds are welcome. There are also a handful of Wicker Park establishments that allow dogs so you can walk down North Ave or Division street with your small dog and then bring him to the stool with you. Finally, if you decide you must leave your dog alone, it is a good idea to leave a window open so your dog can enjoy the splendors of Humboldt Park despite the still unproven fears of marauding militias who actively kidnap small dogs for fighting, the underground pet market, and overseas delicacies. ... more
