Talk to a couple of real estate agents...they'll be happy to give you the names of several real estate attorneys who will give you talk to you about their fees.

I recently moved from Chester (monroe woodbury schools) to port jervis (minisink schools)

i miss Chester. the area was peaceful. i was off oxford road out there... nice area.

my commute to work is the same time as from chester, but was much more enjoyable coming from chester.
i def. prefer monroe woodbury schools over minisink.
i moved this way because minisink schools are "great" or "much better than monroe woodbury" they are NOT! i loved monroe woodbury CSD.

the taxes are high, but if you dont have 5 acres like some people (i had 3/4) and it was definitely affordable and worth it to have my children in an amazing school and good neighborhood.

i am moving back to chester after my lease is up.

This is a bit strange....like why did it take 3 1/2 months after an inspection to close and I have to ask was your agent with you when you did the walk through? If so, that person should already be working to help you on this and if not, why not? It has been a different type of summer with lots of humidity but like was said before, you don't typically find mold growing in an attic area where it gets so hot as well. I would definitely start by asking your inspector to take a look at it and if he feels it may be a mold issue, if not qualified for to do the remediation process, can probably recommend someone who can. ... more

The question is who is "they"? If you have a mortgage "they" is probably your bank - the lien holder, but most likely the bank has paid your taxes since few banks want to lose the house to a tax sale. If you do not have a mortgage then "they" would be the county taking the house in lieu of taxes paid. Usually you can work out a payment schedule with the county. As Allan Erps says - if you have a mortgage trying to do a short sale may buy you time.

You can check with the county recorder's office; see if a default notice/lis pendens was filed, or simply ask any local agent...
