I can send a letter to them asking if they would be willing to sell if you could provide your address. Or you can search the county records to see who owns them and send a letter yourself. I usually send a note card with the county data in it so they know the value of the property. Tammy Hayes, Realtor, Re/Max Palm Realty, tammyhayesre@gmail.com ... more

Some areas of South Gulf Cove have no bridge, it just depends where the property is located. For bridges in South Gulf Cove you would want to be able to clear 10' most of the year. In the Summer when the canals are higher from all the rain it could be as little at 9-3/4'. The lock length and width is 80' x 20'. ... more

From 33955 the closest beach is at the Ponce de Leon Park in Punta Gorda, about 15 minutes away. This little white-sand man-made beach is really great for sunbathing or just relaxing, but doesn't offer good swimming alternatives. it is perfect to take the kids out and see the sunsets. There are a playground with bbq and tables connected to the beach, a fishing pier, a boat ramp and a nature walkway to enjoy. By boat, as soon as you leave either Burnt Store Marina or Pirate's Harbor youwill be able to access many pristine beaches, Now if you are interested in open beaches, Englewood and Boca Grande are probably your best options by car, to the North and Mattlacha and Fort Myers Beach to the South. ... more

Yes we have the State of Florida Bond program and you may be able to get up to $7,500 to be used towards your downpayment and closing costs if you are a first time homebuyer (can't have owned a home in the past 3 years).

Go here to see if your income and household size will qualify and you MUST work with an APPROVED lender on the list:

I live in Port Charlotte zip 33954. It takes me 30 minutes to get to Englewood and Manasota Key Beach and takes about 35 minutes to get to Venice Beach and 40 minutes to Nokomis Beach. Those are the closest beaches to Port Charlotte to get to the Gulf anwyay. Port Charlotte does have its own beach at the end of Harbor Blvd. too.

There are a lot of great golf courses in this area. Here is the link to Port Charlotte Golf Club. http://www.portcharlottegolfclub.com/

The area where the golf course is located in is an older part of town with smaller/older homes. Port Charlotte has a lot of restaurants, shops, golfing, mall, great fishing and parks. I just sold a 3 bed 2 bath pool home on Conway.

You got some nice answers below, and I am not from Port Charlotte, but I do like the general area quite a bit...
What I suggest if and when you find a home you are interested in, just go to google maps put in the address and explore the area, it is easy for you to tell where the next beach is, and by all means work with a Realtor who knows the area well and will not only make the appointments and show you properties but will also make sure you are preapproved and then guide you through the entire process.

Robbie Sifrit answered:
Good Morning Sonny:

Port Charlotte is situated on Charlotte Harbor where the Peace and Myakka Rivers come together. The harbor goes out to the Gulf of Mexico which is about an hour's boat ride through the harbor. However, to get to the Gulf beaches by car is about a 20 minute drive which would take you to Englewood Beach. A little farther drive to the north is Venice beach and to the south Fort Myers beach. There are several other beach areas within a short distance including Boca Grande, Nokomis, Sanibel Island, Siesta Key, and more. Again, the west coast is the shoreline on the Gulf of Mexico.

Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda also have an extensive canal system and many of these canals lead out to Charlotte Harbor. So we have lots of "waterfront" properties.

Let me know if you have any other questions about our area or the relocation process. I specialize in out-of-town buyers and would be happy to assist you any way I can.

Thanks.
