Katherine, A real estate broker doesn't order criminal backgrounds on our buyer clients and there are no laws or rules that require that we not sell to buyers based on criminal history. The buyer may be required by law to avoid purchasing in certain areas based upon their legal standings. For example some individuals are required to live outside of a certain radius around elementary schools and such. It is not required of real estate brokers to ensure that a buyer follow the rules of their release. ... more
