Currently there are no Costco's or Walmart's in Menifee however Walmart is slated to open a new store on the Southern end of the city within the next year. Menifee is one of the two youngest cities in the area and it is rapidly growing and has numerous business (restaurants, large and small retail stores, Movie theater, and a bowling alley) all scheduled to open in the next few years. I have lived in the area for over 40 years and would love to share my knowledge of the area with you and answer any questions that you might have. Be aware that many scams do exist and you may have stumbled upon one. If you choose not to work with an agent of your own always verify ownership before exchanging any money/personal information--make certain they are who they claim to be. Never wire any money, if it sounds to good to be true, it is. For scam related information see links.
When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/
I live in St. Leo's neighborhood (Cleaves and Park) which is a ten-minute walk to the Sharktank, er SAP Center. As a resident, I think the proximity to SAP, downtown, the train station and light rail makes for better quality of life. We do have street parking by permit only so SA Center goers don't clog up our residential streets. Most of my neighbors agree.
However, people are divided on the benefit of the proposed major league baseball stadium (equally nearby). I personally love the idea.
