Kathy Burgre…, Home Owner in Westchester, NY
Wed Nov 9, 2016
Kathy Burgreen answered:
What you need is to buy a house. NYC never had many houses for rent - most owners want to sell and are not interested in renting. As for apartment buildings - I've never heard of any buildings with 4 bedrooms. There are 3 bedroom apartments but not 4.

I don't know what your budget is but you need to try the suburbs. Westchester is above the Bronx, so try there. If you have a small budget - try Yonkers & Mount Vernon. If no luck there, try Fordham, the South Bronx, Castle Hill, etc. If you can spend more, try more expensive areas.

Either way, you should sit down with a lender and get a pre approval. This will let you know what you qualify for.

Sally Grenier answered:
What do you mean by "one-shot deal"??? Are you looking to buy or rent? If you're looking to buy, contact a local lender to get pre-approved, then find a good Realtor to work for you as a Buyer's Agent. If you're renting, try contacting local property management companies directly. FYI -- Trulia isn't a real estate company or property management company. It's just a marketing site. ... more

Edgewater Park are Cooperatives, they are like Single Family homes there. This is small community and there are HOA Fees. It's very private with private beach access. Also I believe you must know at least 2) people in there and also get reference letters.

Sanjeev Ahuja, Real Estate Pro in Floral Park, NY
Tue Dec 31, 2013
Sanjeev Ahuja answered:
I believe you are looking to rent and best way to start in your situation would be to ask friends, family, church minister etc. that can highly recommend a real estate agent that they have worked with. Once you identify the agent you want to work with explain the credit situation and most importantly circumstances that caused the credit to go bad and what has changed now that will put on a path of better financial health going forward. If you can show your current paystubs, previous two years W-2's and verifiable job references that will help your situation. Rental market in most areas in very strong and land lords have many tenants to choose from so you should definitely work with someone that is referred from trusted sources and can help you.
Best wishes.
