Wow, I'm surprised that you said that. I don't think Melbourne has a lot of crime at all. I'm sure like any city there are better areas than others. When searching for a home you may want to go on my website at brevardmlsfree.com and you can check the demographics for that area. I hope this helped you and I would love to talk to you if you have any other questions. ... more

Before buying I would look at the flooded (not flood) map. Where all the flooded houses were. If you buy on high ground it might make you a lot less likely to be flooded in the future. You might also find insurance to be an issue in that city. ... more

Hi Diane,

There is a great deal of land, and homes with acreage, some near lakes in the Grant area. You could even have a horse in some of these areas! Grant is located near the intracoastal waterway, is easily accessible and the ocean is a short drive. Perhaps a half hour. Have a look at my website and search the mls for Grant and you may be surprised at the amount of property available. Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you! Best regards, Lou Duncan :o) ... more

Hello, Michelle

Sebastian is a great place to raise kids! It provides a better quality of life for everyone in the family. People are very friendly in this town. I am a Realtor that relocated from Miami to Sebastian. I have lived here for a year and I love it. I know the Ft Lauderdale and Broward area very well and I can truly tell you I don't miss the traffic. Here you find lower property taxes and auto insurance is reduced drastically compared to S FL.

I agree with Maggie from Coldwell that you will probably get a better deal in a house that has already been built as prices have been decreasing so much! I live in the area called Sebastian Highlands close to Rd 512 and by Fleming and there are nice houses in my neighborhood with big lots and even with a pool ranging from 160-220K.

Feel free to contact me if you need more info on the area or if I can be of assistance in finding your Dream Home.

In fact, this area of Florida is called the Space Coast due to all of the Kennedy Space center influence. You can easily find positions here from astrophysicist to rocket scientist (literally). We are highly connected throughout the community and would be happy to help you in your transition. Feel free to send us your resume and we will keep our eyes and ears open for you.
