So far, NOT super impressed with school ratings for the greater San Antonio area. Any districts/towns that are great maybe outside the immediate area, but still within a 30minute commute…

I'm new to Trulia and am just seeing your question today. The reason you are not getting any responses is because by law, realtors are not allowed to give our opinion on suitability of neighborhoods, schools, etc. However, I can provide you with some resources to help you with your search. On my web page (, there is a tab/link titled "Market Insider." This tab will give you all kinds of statistics on schools, crime, income, and so forth. But don't rely on just one source. Here are a few links for you to explore:

Hope this helps.

Briscoe Middle School is in the Northside Independent School District. The physical address is 4265 Lone Star Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78253. It is on the Northwest side of San Antonio located outside of 1604 Alamo Ranch Parkway and Weisman Blvd.

Let me know if you are interested in taking a look at houses in this area. I look forward to talking with you further.

To a certain extent, yes you have a choice. Obviously, private schools are completely your choice as long as your children meet the requirements for admission, and you can afford the tuition. As far as public school choice, you do have some options depending on which district your home is in and who you or your significant other happen to work for. For instance, NEISD has a "school choice" program that is on a first come first served basis and can be even more restrictive due to capping. Also, if a parent is employed by certain districts then the children could have the option of attending the school the parent works at. With regard to that house on Harvest Moon, it is in the Northside Independent School District which does have a few "school choice" campuses but over crowded campuses that cannot allow choice is more of the rule than the exception. They also have specialized campuses such as Health Careers and the Science and Engineering Academy which give you more choices depending on your child's age and interests. I would recommend you check out the district websites for more information. I hope this helps. ... more

In my own company, we have a $35 application fee for each adult, and use that money to run criminal background check and credit reports for the owner. We are looking for a credit score above 600, and at least 3 times the monthly rent as income. Security deposit is typically equal to one month of rent in cost. Pet restrictions vary from owner to owner, some do, son't don't allow animals. Usually , we are looking for a deposit of $300 per animal under 25 lbs, $400 over that weight. I think most companies have similar sorts of guidelines.

We do have an inventory of properties, but most of our turnover happens in the summer, so we have substantially less to choose from than just a few weeks back. Let me know if we can assist you in finding a home.

First... let me just answer your question :)

The school districts for that home are:

Elem: Fisher
Middle: Rayburn Sam
High: John Jay

Ok... about the home.. This is a short sale... so if you need to be in a home in 60 or less days, this is not the home for you. Short sales are taking between 90 and 120 days on average to close. The seller has no money, so in most cases, the homes are as is. You are at the mercy of the banks approval to the terms of the contract.. meaning you may or may not have to pay all of part of your own closing costs vs. having the seller cover your closing costs.. This may mean more down.

The only positive about a short sale is that the home is being sold for less than what the owner owes on the home... so if the numbers work out, and the condition of the property is not too bad... it may be a great deal over all. The only way to tell... is to go see the home in person, pull comparable sales in the area, evaluate repairs/money out of pocket, and decide if it is good enough to move forward.

If not... on to the next home.

To make your life a little easier... shoot me a text, e-mail, or go old school and give me a call... and I'm happy to send you all of the homes in the school district you are wanting to stick with. I like to give you as many options as possible...
