The Avalon properties (of which there are three) Soma towers (a little higher end) are just a few of the many apartments in downtown Bellevue. The other option is to find a condo that the owner is leasing out... that is a constantly changing market as condos usually get leased within a week or so of them coming onto the market. If you don't have a fulltime job and will be looking for contract work your best bet again would be on the Eastside- There's a concentration of jobs around Factoria (South Bellevue), downtown Bellevue, Redmond/Bellevue/Kirkland border (close to Microsoft). There is a lot of good answers here with quality links and information for you to sort thru. I live in Whispering Heights which is sandwiched between Lakemont(Issaquah) and Somerset(Bellevue). I fall into Bellevue Schools (yay)! This year Eastgate Elementary (Bellevue) has a new program that has high-functioning autism students integrated into the general classrooms. My 2nd grade son has his good friend sitting right next to him that has HFA, and a teacher with experience with it as well. You probably won't find much info on the district website or schools website, but feel free to contact them directly: Principal: Gail McDonald, Office Manager: Jessica Soto Tel: 425-456-5100.
Being near the I-90 corridor is key to getting to downtown with a minimal commute. My Windermere office is just down the hill from this area and just off of I-90. I would recommend directly contacting anyone of the Real Estate Professionals that answered your question.

All of Bellevue is a very good place to live. If the rent is cheaper on the two properties you are researching, it is likely because of the size or condition of the property. Depending on the exact address, each of the properties you've listed may be adjacent to busy streets.

You may want to find a real estate broker who will help you with your search. if you'd like, I can send you a wonderful book on the Seattle area and it's neighborhoods.

First, the Bellevue school district covers most of Bellevue. Bellevue High School and Newport High School have been rated in the top 10 in the U.S. and the feeder elementary schools are excellent. There is a little overlap with Lake Washington school district on the north edge and Issaquah school district on the south. All three are great school districts.

My daughter-in-law happens to own Sundance Preschool which has two campuses in Bellevue and is one of the highest rated Preschools in the area. The age range is 6 months through kindergarten.

Which part of Bellevue you want to live in depends on your commute. For the I-90 commute, Cougar Mountain, which includes Lakemont and several other quality neighborhoods, built in the 1990s and 2000s, is mostly 20 to 30 minutes.

If you choose West Bellevue and are open to homes that were built in the 50s, 60s, 70s, you can commute over State route 520 and be in Seattle in 15 minutes. If you live further east in Bellevue, the houses were mostly built in the 80s and 90s.

I have sold this "Eastside area" and worked out of Bellevue for over 20 amazing years, so am happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Yes, the previous agents have correctly answered that all owners of properties in King county pay property taxes to the state based on the county tax assessors value. If you receive an update on your property value (usually a postcard) and you believe it is incorrect. You can challenge the value, and must file within 60 days of receipt of the new value.
Also, as mentioned, all sellers in the state are required to pay a 'resale tax'. If you are a foreign national selling, the IFRPTA tax comes into play. If you are an alien working in the USA with a SS number, you will need to fill out the FIRPTA form. In the state of Washington because we do not have an income tax, the state resale tax (in King County 1.78%) is collected at closing from your escrow account. yours Lindy Hisatomi

I live off of Cougar Mountain Way and I just love this area. Lots and lots of nature trails, parks are in the neighborhood along with well maintained streets and properties. We had an incredible neighborhood block party this past Sunday with live music, activities for the kids as well as great food!. What a great way to meet all the neighbors. Having lived within this area for the past 30 years, I can tell you this is the best neighborhood I've found! It is close proximity to I-90 as well as lots of side roads to travel. There's a great mix of townhomes as well as estate sized homes. Newcastle Golf Course is just a few minutes west of here and skiing just an hour away. Lake Sammamish State Park is just down the hill within 15 minutes. ... more

Your in luck, just heading into the summer. Wait for a nice day, hop on the Bainbridge Island ferry, and come on over. You will find what are arguably the best public schools in the state. When we moved over here from West Seattle 5 years ago, our main interest was a quality public school for our then 10 year old. He is now a freshmen at Bainbridge High School, and we couldn't be happier. come on over for the day, walk around Winslow, go out to Agate pass, Maybe have lunch at the Casino.
